Science lesson at midnight-Perseid meteor shower
The older boys and I went onto the beach tonight hoping to catch a glimpse of the meteor shower occurring. We didn’t see anything trailing across the sky, but the boys enjoyed looking for crabs and jumping puddles. Had a short discussion of what was occurring with the intersection of the Swift-Tuddle comet.
Adequate prep time
I imagine you can relate…leaving to travel with your family takes a great deal of planning and preparation. I was up until 3:00 a.m. getting the house in order amongst other things. Doing a decent job of this seems to make life easier down the road. I could say the same thing for our home studies. Hopefully, enough prep time in our academics will aid my kids as they learn new concepts.
Blazers and khakis. What is your influence on them?
I laughed as I was packing for our vacation because I noticed that we had several of the same navy blue blazers hanging in one of the boy’s closets. You can tell what type of fashion I like generally by what you see them wearing..preppy, old-fashioned, classic, traditional. Call it what you want. I wonder if these decisions I make for them such as fashion will influence choices they make as they get older. If they do, I hope it’s a positive one because fashionista I certainly am not.

Have lunch with the girlfriends…
My schedule will be changing shortly because of formal schooling beginning again in our home. I will go to the evening gym classes instead of the morning ones. I won’t go to lunch with my girlfriends because I’ll be at home teaching. Could I keep doing these things during the school year? Yes, I could. You have unlimited possibilities when it comes to homeschooling, but very little trumps quality teaching time with my kids and that usually occurs during the daytime hours.
