We took an academic break today since we had a full day of subjects yesterday. I think my fifth grader was still writing his paper at 9:00 last night.
We ran errands starting with dropping my daughter at gymnastics followed getting my tire patched for a leak. I left the car at the auto shop, and we walked to the gym so that I could squeeze in my workout. That was followed by ice cream for 50 cents at Burger King. I made a quick stop by Home Depot. I love Home Depot. The goal was to look at new patio pieces to go around the pool. I did find a fire pit, so I brought that home with us. The afternoon and evening were spent with dear friends. We tried out the new fire pit by cooking hot dogs using wire skewers that were my old coat hangers. Unfortunately neither my girlfriend nor I are skilled at maintaining a fire. It died out quickly, and we began to smell of smoke. We tried with much effort to revive the flames, but our efforts were unsuccessful. So much for s’mores. Instead we microwaved the marshmallows, chocolate, and crackers. Still yummy, though.
Boy, does my hair stink, now! No, I’m not sure how I’d survive in the wilderness with my fire-building skills.
