Oreos and fruit tarts

Busy, busy day of academics. Middle school! What a steep learning curve I’m on. So many topics for each child today ranging from solving first grade logic puzzles to quintets to MLA format to copywork to division to synonyms to Caesar. Aaaaaaaah. I feel like pulling my hair out sometimes from all of the revolving doors I must enter and then leave.

I was working with my oldest son tonight on a few of his big projects while we consumed Oreos and an entire tray of mini-fruit tarts. Yum… Not happy that I didn’t get my work-out in but those treats were still enjoyed.
Look at our pet squirrel below. His name is Cheezit, and he comes very close to our back door. Sometimes he leaps into the air to get our attention to feed him. The kids give him unsalted almonds. He’s the best pet on the planet for somebody like me. No maintenance minus a few almonds to share.
More reading to do. Hoping to see the bed by 2 a.m. I need to wash my sweatpants. I’ve been wearing them now for 3 days in a row. They are about 10 years old and came from Walmart. Really needing some new lounge wear!

Come on, kids. It’s mulch week.

This week we are heavy into house projects. While the kids aren’t thrilled with working, they are excited about increasing their allowance through the use of extra chores. Instilling a good work ethic in them is a personal goal of mine as a parent.
We have many flower beds so they are helping move mulch around the house. Tough physically but a great way to tone your arms, moms! Of course, forget trying to keep your nails in any kind of presentable appearance;(
