What is a normal day anymore?

Today was another academic day where you feel like you’re spinning circles and wondering if anything’s getting accomplished. I taught on a variety of topics from phonics to subject complements to the food pyramid to addition to spelling rules to poetry. The list goes on. It can feel like you are in an academic marathon at my house. The kids get plenty of breaks, but mommy doesn’t and that’s okay. One day we will retire, and I can play bingo with girlfriends or maybe I’ll run my own company. But, right now it’s Catherine the Great and whatever else needs to be learned.
Tonight consisted of practices and breakfast for dinner! I love to do that when hubby’s working. I needed to get a work-out in but instead chose to eat Mrs. Field’s cookies-going to chalk that one up to hormones:) Just finished giving myself a chemical peel, you know the kind where your face feels like it’s on fire! I’ll spend the rest of the evening reading programming books, studying history, and listening to a bit of French before bed. Yes, it’s essential to study when you are homeschooling. Become the student, I say.

Spa Day

Had my first ever microdermabrasion treatment today at a local spa. Yummy.
Finally decided to be proactive on this age thing. Of course, their robes are way too big for me.  I look like a 10 year old wearing my mother’s clothes!
Happy Mother’s Day.

Is homeschooling causing my age spots?

So, I’m in my forties now, and apparently there’s a switch in your body that gets pushed when you enter this decade.  The button reads, “Everything will fall once activated”.  I mean, I’m seeing age spots, growths that are who knows what, eyelids catching when I turn my eyes a certain way, and pores that seem to be the size of craters on the moon.  My daughter told me the other day that I have holes in my skin.  I gasped..

So, I broke down and called a dermatologist today to have my skin evaluated for these lovely middle-age changes.  Am I vain?  Why, of course!  Here’s the skinny for me.  I’m more productive when I feel better about myself (at least that’s what I’m going to tell my husband so that he’ll give me his blessing  to buy some magical cream or something:)

Can homeschooling be causing all of these changes?  Well, the lack of sleep probably doesn’t help along with the stress, but I’ll just  have to live with the changes.  Maybe my kids will concoct some fountain of youth cream while they’re in their home studies.  Wouldn’t we make a fortune?
