And miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep.

You said it, Mr. Frost. I feel like that all of the time. My oldest son recited his infamous snowy woods poem today, so the lyrics are cycling through my neural pathways.

Today was full-blown academics. Lots of reading, geography, compositions, spelling, poetry, art, history, and science. Math was not touched-tomorrow….

My only breaks came with eating and swimming. I have so many projects around the house I need to get my hands on, but everything’s on hold until I accomplish what I want/need to with the kids. Guessing another 2 weeks of academics. Then, I can ease up while throwing in some new extra-curriculars.

Are you following the Snowden case? It’s fascinating to me. I discussed the case with my oldest son this morning as we traced his past and potential travel routes. My son asked why don’t they just shoot him for turning on his country-oh, boy. More to discuss on that topic…

One plug-check out the “Ivy Coach” website. Bev Taylor, I believe, is her name. Anyway, I receive her free email digests, and she’s got a new one out covering various topics such as the recent affirmative action decision made by the Supreme Court. I’ve found her digests to be informative most times.

We finished story-time around 10:30 tonight. The kids have made palettes on the landing upstairs in hopes of watching lightning through the skylights. Now its close to midnight, and I’m eating ice cream. It’s loaded with gluten, sugars, and various artificial colorings, and I’m looking forward to eating it. Sometimes I just want some processed, fake food.

Using your iPhone to teach memory work

My kids are memorizing a variety of things this year including the Gettysburg Address. I’m using my iPhone to help me teach them. I recorded myself saying their various pieces they must learn. Then, they can replay them and listen to the speeches and poetry as they practice. Of course, I can’t just leave my kids with my phone.  History has taught me that they find themselves very amusing at some of the sounds and songs they record for me..

New iphone 5 tomorrow-check out the below link and look at what the marines are getting to play with..
