Mom, pediatrician, homeschooler

Article sent to me by my girlfriend.  Don’t you know that it made me smile just a bit, although I disagree that parents are getting more sleep! Who’s she kidding? She’s got 4 kids, she’s homeschooling, and teaching at an academic medical institution.  I’m not buying that one..

  1. Terrific article. Thanks for sharing. I have to say I was with her when she said that she was timid to state that she was homeschooling her kids-although she is still working. I still find it hard to tell people that I have quit working to stay at home and homeschool my kids. I am not sure why because so far, homeschooling is my favorite job! And when I do work (I work on the weekends still at our local children’s hospital), I realize how glad I am that I made the choice to homeschool.
As far as sleep, I don’t know how you do it! The added sleep is one of our favorite parts of homeschooling! If the kids have a big day, they know that they can sleep in the following day or take it easy.
I think I may share this article with some friends too.

    1. Glad you enjoyed the article, too.
Sleep-I’m just wired this way and have always been a night owl. I love the night time. Things are dark and still and quiet, and nobody talks to me. That’s why working call in medical school never really bothered me. I do love to sleep, but if I have to choose on staying up and learning something new for my kids or me versus sleeping, I will choose to stay up:)
      Best! Joy
