Here we go

Another busy weekend as the story goes. We worked through the weekend with our academics as we prepared to take a week off for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
We are traveling with no books other than those used for leisurely reading. I was proud of myself because I managed to fit all of my belongings into one medium-sized suitcase. Usually, I lug one of those giant suitcases with me and have to pay extra money to do so. I figured if I’m going to start dragging the kids across Europe, I’d better start learning how to pack lighter. Discovering travel-size items made a huge difference in my load. Why have I not been doing this before? I transferred my toiletries to these tiny bottles after I applied tea bags to my eyes this morning. Middle age is bringing the additional puffy eyes that I now have to deal with-ugh!
I’m looking forward to a break from the usual routine. We are going to visit with family and friends. Likely will do a great deal of cooking, eating, and spending time in the great outdoors. In between, I’m hoping to hit the gym with family. I did bring some work I need to do such as planning for history and chemistry classes as well as a college prep book-yes, I think that far ahead with my kids. Can’t help it…

First day of Excelsior co-op

Today we began fall semester classes at our local homeschool cooperative, Excelsior. We meet weekly and offer a variety of subjects. Many hours go into planning the co-op. I was up until 2 a.m. getting my chemistry class together. Two teachers and I taught on the scientific method and performed the egg-drop experiment. It’s nice to be relearning things as an adult. Doing so makes you really appreciate the acquisition of knowledge and knowledge itself.  How do you like my mad scientist look?

Renaissance Fair

Spent the day at the Renaissance Fair. This was our first time visiting such an event. The actors were very interesting to watch.

Memorial Day Weekend

It’s so great to see people out with their patriotic pride taking time out to reflect on those who’ve served and died for this country.

Ran a 5K this morning in honor of our soldiers.  Just found out by my girlfriend that I placed second in my age group-what?  Makes me feel better.. So many people kept passing me so I thought I did horribly!  Apparently, I won a medal, but I wasn’t there to receive it because I was already at Dunkin Donuts-ha!!

It’s midnight-Packin, Jammin, Drinkin for va-ca!

Everybody’s asleep but me-story of my life:)

We leave in the a.m. for vacation.  I’m not packed, the house is a mess, have to pack books, electronics, etc etc etc.  I’ll be up all night, so it’s me and Maxwell House (caffeinated) and tunes on the I-pod.  Yes, I dance around the house like a crazy person in the midst of getting it together.  Right now, listening to “Feel so close” by Calvin somebody-terrible with artists’ names.  Maybe I’ll sleep tomorrow…
